Black and Whites

There is something about a black and white photo that just takes it to a whole new level of ambiance. You can always have pictures of colors and they can be vibrant and beautiful, but black and white photos are some of the most elegant pictures in the book. Recently went to my niece and nephew’s baptism and although I took hundreds of pictures the black and whites are my favorite.

Baptisms are a big thing in the Romanian community/culture. In a matter of speaking if I were to ask another fellow Romanian what the most momentous occasion in one’s life would be they would either say one of the following.

  • Wedding
  • Birth of a child
  • or Baptism

Granted this isn’t the same for everyone one, both in or out of the Romanian community but these three things are BIG things. Take it from someone who has 4 siblings and 21 nieces and nephews. You start with the Baptism, years later you’ve got the wedding, and then BABIES!

Mini Models

Life is always an adventure.

One of the biggest adventures in life that I have seen is family. All families are different all people see things different. Even identical twins (although they may look the same) usually have very different personalities. My family is always growing either by us ‘adopting’ someone as part of our family and just bringing them in and welcoming them with open arms or by the many nieces and nephews I always have. Some of these are getting older some are being born now, either way they are all different even when they look the same. And lets face it kids are hilarious.

I held a mini photo shoot with some of my nieces and nephews so here are my mini models. Gotta love them.

Family

It’s not often that I take photos of people. I’m more of a nature, outdoors, strange objects photographer. It’s not that I don’t like taking pictures of people, I just prefer taking candid shots rather than poses and most people are Camera-phobic so they don’t really like me doing that. But I recently went to our family ‘reunion’ (it’s so large we’ll never get the whole family) and as the photographer in the family I am expected of course to take pictures. So I did what I usually do, took some candid shots. Quick, “Hey Look!” shots without giving them time to stop and pose. Obviously there are some that are posed but sometimes you just have to and I have some nieces and nephews who pose as soon as they see the camera. I did do some photo-editing with these as well, again something I rarely do, but I felt like experimenting. I’m not putting as many pictures as usual. I find that less is often more. Majority of these pictures are of my nieces/nephews.
